As the Director of the Light Microscopy Facility at UMass, Amherst and now the Interim Director of Centralized Core Facilities, I see the acute need in making core-generated data FAIR. The light microscopy community is collegial and collaborative and the appreciation for the importance of metadata standardization is almost universally appreciated, making it the right venue for starting a massive project such as this.
